Jockeys Championship

2006 was the 29th year that Rooney Life & Pensions Ltd, Eyre Square, Galway are sponsoring the Jockeys Championship at the Galway Races Summer Festival meeting.  The jockey with the highest number of winners during the week under Rules of Racing and also under National Hunt rules will be presented with a cheque for EUR 2,000 each.  In addition a Galway Crystal Trophy will be presented to each winning jockey to mark the occasion.  The winners last year were Fran Berry under Rules of Racing and Ruby Walsh under National Hunt Rules

Winning flat jockey under Rules of racing, at the 2006 summer festival was Declan McDonogh receiving his prize from Niall Rooney of Rooney Life & Pensions.

Winning National hunt jockey under National hunt rules,at the 2006 summer festival was Ruby Walsh receiving his prize from Niall Rooney of Rooney Life & Pensions.
