What time should I arrive?

It is advisable to arrive at least one hour before the advertised time of the first race. Turnstiles open approximately two hours before the first race of each day.

When is Ladies Day?

Ladies day is Thursday of the Summer Festival. For more details of Ladies Day please view our Ladies Day page.

What are the dates for the Summer Festival 2013?

The dates for the Summer Festival 2013 are Monday 29th July through until Sunday 4th August..

What facilities are there for the disabled?

There is a viewing stand adjacent to the Steward's stand, and also adjacent to Parade Ring. Disabled WC's are provided.

Do I need to pre-book an adult admission ticket?

No. Admission can be paid on the day through the turnstiles.

Is there a discount for students and O.A.P.'s ?

All O.A.P.’s and students are admitted at the discounted rate with proof of a current ID at the turnstiles.

Is there a charge for children?

Children and Teenagers under 16 years of age will be admitted FREE when accompanied by their parent or guardian.  Unaccompanied children or teenagers under 16 will pay the student rate on the day.

Can I hire binoculars?

Binoculars can be hired on the Race course from a booth, at the rear of the Millennium Stand.

Is there an on-site bank?

There are two ATM machines facilities at the rear of the Millennium Stand.

Is there medical staff at the Galway Races?

Doctors, nurses and Order of Malta personnel will be in attendance throughout the Races and are happy to help assist with any medical needs. They may be found in the First Aid Room beside Entrance B.
There are three defibrillators within the enclosure, one in the ground floor of the Millennium Stand, one in the ground of the Killanin Stand and one in the Administration Office located adjacent to the weighroom.
 

What facilities are there at Galway Race Course for eating and drinking?

There are numerous restaurants and bars in the Stands and on the grounds. Please browse our Oncourse Restaurants and Bars page for more information.

What races are shown on the big screens?

All races will be shown on Big Screen Closed Circuit Television each day at various points throughout the grounds. Also shown is the S.I.S. coverage of English racing every day.

Where can I place a bet at the Galway Races?

There are numerous places throughout the enclosure where you can place a bet. Tote facilities are available in the main tote building, on all levels of the Millennium Stand, in the Owners & Trainers bar, in the Carvery Restaurant, the Mayor’s Bar, the Old Stand and the Mayor’s Garden. Touch-tote facilities are also available at these locations. You will find details of how to place a bet in your race card.

There are two bookmaker's rings, one situated between the Parade Ring and the Millennium Stand, the second in the Mayor’s Garden. Ladbrokes SP Office is located at the rear of the main tote building.
