The Best Dressed Person Competition takes place on what is traditionally known as Ladies Day on Thursday of the Summer Festival Meeting, (Thursday, 31st July, 2014) This competition is generously sponsored by Anthony Ryan Ltd of Shop Street, Galway. Anthony Ryan Ltd. has a strong reputation for quality service and an unequalled variety of collections. Galway Ladies Day is famous for being stylish, vibrant and chic.

 
There is a very generous prize for the winner of the Best Dressed Competition and for the Best Hat Competition.

Entry: There is no formal entry procedure to the competitions. Judges simply wander through the crowds and invite chosen finalists to the Anthony Ryan marquee, adjacent to the Champagne Tent. Ladies interested in taking part in this year’s Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed Lady Competition are asked to arrive early as the finalists will be chosen by 2.30pm.

The winning outfits are usually announced at approximately 3.30pm. The prize giving ceremony will take place in the enclosure immediately after the 5th race.

Winners Announced in Anthony Ryans Best Dressed Lady, Best Hat & Wear Irish Award at Galway Races Ladies Day

Anthony Ryans Best Dressed Lady Wins Prize Worth €12000

The winner of the Anthony Ryans Best Dressed Lady Competition on Ladies Day at the Galway Races is Rachelle Guiry from Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. Ms. Guiry, a make-up artist wore a Grace Kelly inspired vintage baby blue lace dress with sheer panel on the top. It wasaccessorized with a Carol Kennelly designed net and pearl hat, with cream flowers.           .         

Sporting a hat designed by Ina Mc Carthy, a florist from Middleton UCC student Alex Butler from Middleton, Co. Cork was the winner of the Anthony Ryans Best Hat Competition. The winning hat a white floral creation comprised 100 white roses with one black rose at the top.

The winner of the new Anthony Ryans Wear Irish Award, for the lady with the most appropriate choice of Irish design or accessories in her ensemble was Aisling Maher from Castletroy, Co. Limerick. Ms. Maher’s outfit was centred around an opulent baroque inspired neck piece which she made herself. Accessorising this was a black synamay hat hand blocked encrusted with crystals and embellishments to match the neck piece.

Rachelle Guiry, winner of Anthony Ryans Best Dressed Lady Competition received a magnificent prize of a one carat diamond solitaire pendant valued at €8,500, a shopping spree worth €1500 in Anthony Ryans, Galway and €1000 cash. She will also receive a Lancôme Presentation Gift Hamper worth over €600 and corporate hospitality package for Galway Races October Bank Holiday Racing Festival.

The winner of the Anthony Ryans Best Hat Competition  Alex Butler was presented with her prize of a fashion shopping spree worth €1500 in Anthony Ryan’s Galway by Mr. Anthony Ryan and his mother, Mrs. Breda Ryan.

The winner of the Anthony Ryans Wear Irish Award Aisling Maher was presented with her prize of a fashion shopping spree worth €500 in Anthony Ryan’s Galway by Mr. Anthony Ryan and his mother, Mrs. Breda Ryan.

All 40 contestants in the Best Dressed Competition at the Anthony Ryan Marquee received a special collection of Lancôme cosmetics compliments of University Pharmacy, Galway. 

Judging this year’s competition were three of the best known names in the Irish fashion industry –; TV Presenter and VIP Style Awards ‘Most Stylish Woman’, Kathryn Thomas; Bairbre Power, Fashion Editor of the Irish Independent & Executive Editor of the Irish Independent Weekend magazine; and PJ Gibbons, Editor, Social and Personal Magazine.

They were joined by well known faces from the Galway fashion scene Patricia McCrossan, Managing Director, Galway NOW and Mandy Maher, Director, Catwalk Model Agency.

The judges were on the look out for a Best Dressed Lady with an innate sense of style who could put together a winning ensemble, appropriate to both the wearer and the occasion.

“Our judges had the unenviable task of picking a winner from the very many stylish ladies present in Ballybrit today. I would like to congratulate the winners of the Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed Lady, Best Hat Competitions and Wear Irish for their outstanding sense of style and elegance,” said Anthony Ryan, Managing Director of Anthony Ryan’s Galway.

“We were particularly pleased with the response to our ‘Wear Irish’ Competition and to see so many Irish milliners, and designers featuring high up in the style stakes in Ballybrit today. Our finalists deserve a special commendation for adding so much to the occasion with their colourful ensembles and complimenting accessories. Ladies Day here in Ballybrit continues to be first past the post as the most stylish and glamorous fashion event on the Irish racing calendar,” concluded Mr. Ryan.

Ireland's most Stylish Woman Kathryn Thomas joined the Judging Panel for Best Dressed Lady Competition at Galway Races.

TV presenter and VIP style awards "Most Stylish Woman" Kathryn Thomas has been lined up to join the judging panel for the Anthony Ryans Best Dressed competition at the Galway Races Ladies Day on Thursday, 1st August 2013.  She will join fellow judges Bairbre Power, Fashion editor of the Irish Independent and P.J. Gibbons Editor of Social & Personal Magazine in selecting a winner from the créme de la créme of the fashion elite attending the busiest day of the Galway Race Summer Racing Festival.

Anthony Ryan's Galway, sponsors of  the Best Dressed Competition at the Galway Races since 2003, has announced further details of this year's competitions which boast a prize fund of €20,000, with the Best Dressed Lady set to scoop a prize worth €12,.000.  In addition to the Best Dressed Lady and Best Hat award there will be a new "Wear Irish" award for the lady with the most appropriate choice of irish design or accessories in her ensemble.

Competition - Ladies interested in taking part in this year's Anthony Ryan's Best Dressed Lady Competition are asked to arrive from midday as the finalists will be chosen by 2.30pm.  There is no entry required for the competition. Anthony Ryan's celebrated 10 years sponsoring the Best Dressed Lady Competition at Galway Races Ladies Day  this year which took place on Thursday, 2nd August.  A stellar judging panel were on hand to judge the prestigious fashion competition including former Miss World Rosanna Davison, fashion editor of the Irish Independent Bairbre Power and Editor of Social & Personal Magazine P.J. Gibbons.  They were also joined by well known faces Patricia McCrossan, Managing Director, Galway NOW and Mandy Maher, Catwalk Model Agency. 

The lucky winner was Kelli O''Dell, a student from New South Wales, Australia who walked away with a one carat diamond solitaire pendant valued at €8,000, a shopping spree worth €1,500 in Anthony Ryan's Galway and €1,000 cash.  She will also receive a Lancome Presentation Gift Hamper worth over €500 and a corporate hospitality package for Galway Races October Bank Holiday Race Meeting.  Sporting a hat of her own design, Aisling Ahern was chosen as the winner fo the Best Hat Competition and received a €1,500 shopping spree at Anthony Ryans.

Best Dressed Competition 2011
In 2011 Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed Competition had a prize fund of €20,000 with the Best Dressed Lady scooping a prize worth over €12,000, the largest prize on offer to the winner of a Best Lady Dressed Competition in Ireland during 2011.

The Best Dressed Lady Suzanne McGarry walked away with a one carat diamond solitaire pendant valued at €8,500, a shopping spree worth €1,500 in Anthony Ryans, Galway and €1,000 cash. She also received a corporate hospitality package for Galway Races October Bank Holiday Racing Festival to include dinner and champagne reception and a Lancôme Presentation Gift Hamper worth over €500.

All finalists at the Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed marquee were presented with a special collection of Lancôme cosmetics compliments of University Pharmacy, Galway.
