Winner of the Best Dressed Person Competition

AnnMarie O'Leary from Camp in Co. Kerry was the winner of the Best Dressed Lady Competition. Ms. O'Leary who celebrated her 40th birthday today wore a vintage style ivory fitted dress with shoulder bow details by Karen Moriarty.  Her hat was designed by Carol Kennelly, Milliner from Co. Kerry.

J.P. wins the Galway Plate for the fourth time!

Nailbiting finishes were par for the course in Ballybrit today with  Finger on the Pulse in the JP McManus colours winning the biggest race of the afternoon.  A.P. McCoy rode to victory in The www.thetote.com Galway Plate Steeplechase Handicap with a value of €200,000.  There was a huge cheer in the Parade Ring for the very popular winner as A.P. won the Galway Plate for the first time ever.

Fantastic crowds for the first two evenings of Galway Races

Galway Race Committee welcomed crowds in great numbers to the two first days of the ever popular Galway Races Summer Festival Meeting.

Punters were aplenty and with added excitement of a local Galway owner on Tuesday the two evening meetings were once again a huge success.  Crowd figures were up on both evenings.  The attendance for Monday was 17,961 up  619 people on last year and the attendance for Tuesday was 17,860 up 2,119 on last year.

Galway Race Committee would like to thank all our patrons for attending and helping Galway Races go from strength to strength.

Anthony Ryan Ltd. will once again sponsor the ever popular Best Dressed Lady Competition.  The lucky winner this year will walk away with a Diamond Solitaire Pendant valued at €8,500, a shopping spree worth €1,500 in Anthony Ryan Ltd. and €1,000 cash.  She will also receive a Corporate Hospitality Package for the Galway Races October Bank Holiday Racing Festival to include dinner and champagne reception and a Lancome Presentation Gift Hamper worth over €500.

The winner of the Best Hat competition on the day will win a €1,500 shopping spree at Anthony Ryans Ltd. Galway.

The competition will be judged by Bairbre Power, Fashion Editor of the Irish Independent, model and Xpose presenter Glenda Gilson and P.J. Gibbons Editor, Social an Personal Magazine.

Ladies Day at the Summer Festival looks set to maintain it's reputation as the most sylish and glamorous fashion event on the Irish Racing Calendar.

The Latin Quarter announce their sponsorship of The Latin Quarter Steeplechase

The Town House Bar in Galway city was buzzing Monday evening when the Latin Quarter announced their sponsorship of the Latin Quarter Steeplechase on Tuesday evening, July 27th  of the Galway Races Summer Festival Meeting.  This is the second race on the card on Tuesday evening with an incredible value of €25,000.

To add to the excitement of the opening evening of the Summer Festival Meeting on Monday, 26th July, there will be a Most Appropriately Dressed Lady Competition.  The lucky winner will walk away with a stunning had designed and sponsored by award winning local milliner, Suzie Mahony.  Suzie Mahony designs have been the crowning glory of many race meetings worldwide.  The competition will be judged by Suzie Mahony and well known style guru Mandy Maher of the Catwalk Model Agency.

Details of Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed Lady and Best Hat Competition Announced

Here come the girls! Move over SATC2, the countdown is now on to the most glamorous event of the year when Irish fashionistas dust down their manolos and descend in their thousands to Ballybrit for Ladies Day at the Galway Races.

With exactly one month to go, Anthony Ryan’s Galway, sponsors of the Best Dressed Lady and Best Hat Competition at the Galway Races have announced details of this year’s event and prize package.

Taking place on Thursday 29th July, Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed Lady is set to scoop a prize worth over €12000.

DETAILS OF PRIZES

This year’s Best Dressed Lady will walk away with a one carat diamond solitaire pendant valued at €8500, a shopping spree worth €1500 in Anthony Ryans, Galway and €1000 cash. She will also receive a corporate hospitality package for Galway Races October Bank Holiday Racing Festival to include dinner and champagne reception and a Lancôme Presentation Gift Hamper worth over €500.

The prize for the winner of the ‘Best Hat’ is a €1500 shopping spree at Anthony Ryan’s Galway. All finalists at the Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed marquee will be presented with a special collection of Lancôme cosmetics compliments of University Pharmacy, Galway.

JUDGES
Judging this year’s competition are three of the best known names in the Irish fashion industry –Bairbre Power, Fashion Editor of the Irish Independent and Executive Editor of the Irish Independent Weekend magazine, model and Xposé presenter Glenda Gilson and PJ Gibbons, Editor, Social and Personal Magazine.
They will be joined by well known faces from the Galway fashion scene Patricia McCrossan, Managing Director, Galway NOW, Mandy Maher, Catwalk Model Agency and Fiona Durkin, Fashion Consultant with Anthony Ryan Ltd.

TIMING

Ladies interested in taking part in this year’s Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed Lady Competition are asked to arrive early as the finalists will be chosen by 2.30pm.

There is no entry required for the competition. Judges will mingle through the crowd and will invite selected finalists to the judging marquee which is located adjacent to the champagne tent in the race enclosure.

The winning outfits will be announced at 3.30pm. The prize giving ceremony will take place in the enclosure immediately after the 5th race.
