Tips for Ladies Day

We posed four questions to Cora Casserly, Marketing Manager of Anthony Ryan's Ltd sponsors of Best Dressed Lady Competitions at Galway Races Ladies Day for the last 10 years.

Tips to be both fashionable and comfortable for Races?

Keep your outfit simple, too much is always too much. Choose an outfit that you are comfortable in. Try on your entire outfit the night before so as to save yourself any last minute wardrobe malfunctions! Choose comfy shoes and don’t forget to pop a pair of fold up flat shoes in your bag to change into later in the day. It’s always a good idea to include a few plasters and gel pads into your handbag for the long day and night!
Don’t forget to take a small brolly even if it is a nice day! After all it is Ireland....

What will the judges be looking for?

As always, the Judges will be looking for a winner that is appropriately dressed for the day. It’s a race meeting and not a night out. They will be looking at the whole outfit including the hat, shoes and bag. Judges tend to look for an outfit that is elegant and smart but yet trendy.  They will also take grooming into consideration be it tan, hair, nails and makeup!

What is the must have accessory for 2012?

A girl can never have enough accessories in her wardrobe to help transform that Ladies Day outfit and there are very few occasions when you get to wear a hat, gloves, umbrella, and jewellery all at the same time, But be remember not to go overboard!

What are you looking forward to most about Ladies day?

I’m really looking forward to seeing all the style on Thursday August 2nd…. However, I’m particularly looking forward to seeing what the Best Dressed Lady for the Anthony Ryans Best Dressed Lady 2012 will be wearing!
