FRIDAY'S FAIR LADY- FRIDAY 3rd OF AUGUST

Day 5 of the Galway Races Summer Festival 2018

With seven very competitive races on the card, Friday is always a hugely popular evening race meeting, and a great way to kick off the Bank Holiday weekend. The first race starts at 5.10pm with all races generously sponsored by Guinness. Friday also plays host to the elegant and stylish  ‘Friday’s Fair Lady Competition’ now in its fifth year, sponsored by Athlone Towncentre offering a fantastic prize package valued at over €2000.

The event has earned its place onto the calendars of the most stylish race goers in the country, who enjoy the concept of this laid back ladies day, where the focus is on how the complete look is put together as opposed to where it is from, and entrants are encouraged to blend high street brands with boutique.

Renowned racing fashion expert and stylist Marietta Doran will once again take her place as head of the Friday’s Fair Lady judging panel. This year, Marietta will be joined on the judging panel by Snapchat Sensation, Doireann Garrihy, who was named Most Stylish Influencer at the VIP Style Awards earlier this year, and Make Up Mogul Jane Swarbrigg, Managing Director of Inglot.

These three fashionistas will have the unenviable task of scouting Ballybrit on Friday 4th of August and selecting this year’s Fridays Fair Lady, who will be presented with a €1000 shopping spree in Athlone Towncentre, a luxury hotel & spa break at the Sheraton Athlone Hotel, a €500 voucher to spend in Inglot and a bespoke headpiece, hand crafted by award winning Irish milliner Suzie Mahony.

Speaking at the announcement of the event recently, Shirley Delahunt, Centre Manager at Athlone Towncentre outlined ‘we are delighted to present the Fridays Fair Lady event at the Galway Races on August 4th.  The last number of years have seen the competition go from strength to strength and we have our biggest ever prize package this year to reflect that’.

Marietta, Doireann, and Jane, along with their team of fashion scouts including Athlone Towncentre’s resident personal shopper and stylist Pamela Daly Guinan will be trackside in Ballybrit from 4pm on Friday 4th August. The winner will be announced after the third race of the evening.
