Galway Racecourse plays host to one of the greatest race meetings in the world, the famous and iconic Galway Races Summer Festival that takes place from Monday 27th July to Sunday 2nd August 2020. Known as ‘race week’ locally, our Festival traditionally draws hundreds of thousands of people from all over Ireland and worldwide.
This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, for health and safety reasons, we have made the difficult but right decision to race behind closed doors, and unfortunately the event will not be open to the public.
While we’re hugely disappointed that our loyal racegoers and families can’t be here with us in person this July, we’re planning new ways to celebrate all that is great about the Galway Races with both the help of RTE television and via our social media channels. Watch this space!
Thank you to everyone who has been in touch with us. Your support is very much appreciated.
As we kick-off our new behind closed doors race meeting, make sure you tune in via RTE television and our social media channels to see what surprises we have in store. Join us as we celebrate all that is great about the iconic Galway Races. It's our supporters like YOU that make it special. Thank you.
Tune in for one of the big races of the week, the historic Galway Plate. Viewers at home, children & the bigger kids in the household will be asked to set up their own racecourse in their sitting room or garden and compete! Then send us in your videos and images. In advance of the race, jockeys will be giving you their own tips on how to "handle the course". Lots of fun guaranteed!
Celebrate the women in your life with our new 'virtual' Ladies Day 'Her.ie Best Dressed Competition'. This is a chance for all ladies, no matter where you live, to take part from your living room, kitchen or garden. Competition details will be released very soon.
The Mad Hatters Competition is hugely popular among families and this year you can still enter, be it virtually! This is an opportunity for you and your family to get creative.
